Caregiver Practicum Placement (In-Person Only)
This in-person practicum placement is designed for individuals who have completed all required theory and safety training and are ready to apply their caregiving knowledge in real client care settings. This essential component bridges the gap between classroom learning and hands-on caregiving practice, offering participants the opportunity to gain supervised experience directly in clients' homes.

Participants will accompany experienced caregivers and support workers during real care shifts, assisting with a variety of caregiving tasks such as personal care, hygiene, mobility assistance, household support, and companionship. Under guided supervision, students will develop professional confidence, strengthen their communication and time management skills, and learn how to adapt to individual client needs in diverse home environments.

Admission Requirements:
✔ Successful completion of the Personal Support Worker (PSW) or Home Support Worker (HSW) course
✔ Completion of all safety training (including First Aid & CPR certification)
✔ Minimum CLB English level 4
✔ Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
✔ Valid Canadian open work permit (must not have employer or occupation restrictions)
✔ Participants must not have any conditions on their work permit that would prevent participation in in-home care

Practicum Overview:
✔ Hands-On Experience – Deliver real care services under supervision in private homes
✔ Skill Application – Apply theory learned in PSW/HSW courses to real-life caregiving
✔ Mentorship & Feedback – Receive guidance and constructive input from experienced caregivers
✔ Client Interaction – Build strong communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Workplace Readiness – Gain confidence, professionalism, and insight into client-centered care environments

Program Structure:
Format: In-person only (no virtual/online component)
Location: Client homes and care environments arranged by the training organization
Schedule: Supervised shifts coordinated with the caregiver and instructor
valuation: Practical performance review and final feedback session
✔ Completion Certificate Provided (for practicum component only – not a full PSW/HSW certification)

Course Fee: $560 (Includes practicum coordination, supervision, and electronic certificate)
