
Personal Support Worker (PSW) Fundamentals Course
This 8-week training program provides foundational knowledge and practical skills for individuals pursuing entry-level caregiving or home support worker roles in Canada. The course is structured to meet the expectations of Canadian healthcare employers and is delivered through a combination of self-paced theory and in-person training.
Admission Requirements:
✔ Previous healthcare education (local or international) OR a minimum of 6 months of experience in a healthcare or caregiving role
✔ Minimum CLB English level 4 (to understand medical language and workplace communication)
✔ Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
✔ Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate (Required prior to or during the course – not included in this course)

Based on the Mosby’s Canadian Textbook for the Support Worker – a trusted and widely used resource in caregiver education across Canada

This program is not equivalent to, or recognized as, a BC Health Care Assistant Program. Graduates are not eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry. Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry is required before working in BC’s public health sector as a care aide, health care assistant, personal support worker, community health worker or an equivalent position.
